SAG Awards 2018: This Is Us' Mandy Moore and fellow cast members match in blue – but why?

The SAG Awards – the Screen Actors Guild Awards abbreviated – took place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

It was a historic night, similar to the Golden Globe Awards a few weeks earlier, as stars stood against sexual harassment in the entertainment industry.

Organisers of the event asked Kristen Bell, 37, to be the first ever person to host the awards, and alongside having an almost all female team present the awards, the night was another celebration of female empowerment.

While stars turned up in daring outfits and lots of sparkle rather than black, like at the Golden Globe Awards, why did This Is Us cast members, Mandy Moore, Chrissy Metz and Susan Kelechi Watson wear the same shade of cobalt blue?

According to E!News, it was most likely just coincidence.

Mandy was styled by Erica Cloud and wet for a Ralph Lauren slip-style dress.

It was covered in sequins to give it that bit of extra sparkle.

Chrissy wore a custom Kate Spade New York ruffle does with floral embellishments coming down from the right-hand shoulder.

And finally Susan strutted down the red carpet in a Rubin Slinger dress, which featured an origami-inspired design and accentuated her well-toned physique.

As all three women’s dresses came from different designers, it seems likely they arrival to the event in outfits of the same blue was just a coincidence.

As part of the celebration of female empowerment, many actresses showed off their figures in sheer numbers and strutted confidently in dresses with plunging necklines and backless gowns.

American actress Shakira Barrera, 27, best known for her roles in Armed and Super Fast! stepped out on the red carpet in a dotty see through dress, and turned she heard as she subtly flashed her nipples.

Halle Berry, 51, and British actress Vanessa Kirby, 29, also opted for sheer dresses that skimmed over their well-toned frames.

Australian actress and model Samara Weaving, 25, stunned in a hot pink number that had a plunging neckline which reached down to her naval, and a huge cut out at the back that exposed her entire back.

Nicole Kidman, 50, showed age is just a number as she too opted for a backless sequin gown.

So who was worst dressed in the night?
